Free Cavity Wall Insulation
Cavity wall insulation is a cost effective solution for insulating your home.
A cavity wall is the external wall of a house that is made of two masonry walls, the outer wall being made of brick and the inner wall of either brick or block. In between these walls is a gap of at least 50mm. This cavity helps with damp proofing by preventing rainwater from penetrating the inner wall. It’s not so helpful when it comes to insulation. An unfilled cavity wall allows up to 35% of the heat in your home to escape.
If your property was built after 1920, and before the early 1980s when building regulations specified that cavities should be filled, there is a good chance that your home has cavity walls.
